History
Before Dasmariñas became a city,it was started first as a barrio of Imus town. The town was named "Pérez- Dasmariñas" in honor of the Spanish Governor General of the islands (Goméz Pérez Dasmariñas) from 1590-1593.
In 1905 the town converted again as a barrio of Imus but during the American period in 1907 it became again into a town.
The local leaders including Placido Campos, Francisco Barzaga, and Felipe Tirona agreed to delete the word "Pérez" and retain "Dasmariñas" as a new name of the town.
In 2009 through the Republic Act No.9723 Dasmariñas became a city.

Culture
The Dasmariñas City in Cavite is celebrated the Paru-paro Festival.
It is celebrated every 26th of November every year
According to the former mayor of the city (Jennifer A. Barzaga) it started when Dasmariñas declared a city on November 26, 2009.
The city is likened to a butterfly that from being a worm later became a butterfly remarked the development of Dasmariñas from being a town to now a city.
Notable people
Goméz Pérez Dasmariñas y Ribadeneira was a spanish politician, diplomat, military officer and colonial official.
He was the 7th Governor General of the Philippines from 1590 to 1593, in honor of him the Dasmariñas town was named after him ('Perez Dasmariñas' that now known as Dasmariñas City.)
He was also the one who initiated the fortification of Intramuros and Fort Santiago.
Tourist Spot
The Museo de La Salle is located within the campus of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.
This is one of the places in De La Salle University that you will find to know more about the history of Cavite.
The museum collection was illustrating the 19th century Ilustrado Lifestyle.
It was a mixed collection including the furniture, family portraits, books, religious items, memorabilia,stuffed animals, and period costumes.
Dasmariñas City Park also known as Kadiwa Park , the name of the Park is get from the famous market in Cavite which is the Kadiwa Market.
Kadiwa Park was beautiful, tiny, and quite park wherein you can see and explore the artificial beautiful birds, the waterfalls, and the various colored lightened with spotlight animals.
