Trece Martires City


History





    Trece Martires which used to be Quintana was named after the Thirteen Martyrs of Cavite, who were judged of rebellion and were executed by the Spaniards on September 12, 1896 during the Philippine Revolution. Trece Martires was one of the largest and remotest barrios in Cavite.

    From 1900-1930, the place was subdivided into cattle ranches and sugar farms which is owned by the Valencia and Soriano Families of Tanza. Just before the outbreak of  World War II, the government awarded these lands to be the tenant occupants on an installment basis.


Food



Bibingkinitan


    Bibingka is the best enjoyed food of the people after Simbang Gabi during Christmas Season. A baked rice caked that is traditionally cooked in clay pots lined with leaves.    







Aling Kika's Food Products


    A store the had a humble beginning in the 70's that offers different filipino desserts that is called kakanin, that comes with different variety and styles. 




Culture






    Every October 27 to 28, the locals of Trece Martires celebrates the town fiesta to honor their patron saint, St. Jude Thaddeus. Part of the program are street dance, parades, dancing and singing contests.





Notable People





Luis Aguado


    Luis Aguado was one of the Thirteen Martyrs, he was a son of the captain in the Spanish Navy. He would later become supply chief of the Spanish arsenal in Fort San Felipe in the town of Cavite.







Maximo Inocencio


    Maximo Inocencio was one of the Thirteen Martyrs, He was the oldest of the Martyrs. Being a Freemason, he was implicated in the Cavite Mutiny of 1872 and was subsequently exiled to Ceuta in Spanish Morocco or Cartagena, Spain for ten years. 








Francisco Osorio


    Francisco Osorio was one of the Thirteen Martyrs, he was the son of a wealthy and well-connected family in Cavite. Littles is known of him except that he was a simple pharmacist and neither a Freemason nor a Katipunero.





Tourist Spot




 

Mayang Falls


    Mayang Falls is also called Sta. Rosa Falls, it is the only waterfall in Trece Martires. This falls is perfect for people likes cliff jumping. Visitors need to conquer a short trail prior to going up to the concrete staircase. Makeshift native cottages are available. It is located in Barangay Conchu and the locals frequent the place during Holy Week.









Bantayog ng Labintatlong Martir ng Kabite


    It is located along Governos Drive, the Cavite's 13 Martyrs Monument depicts what happened during the execution at Plaa de Armas. The thirteen martrs were killd through musketry. This monument was built in 1906, the remains of the Caviteño martyrs still lie here.
