The city of Cavite is a peninsula located in Manila bay. It is a small port town also known as "Cavite Puerto" or "Puerto de Cavite" during the Spanish colonial times and it is the port where ships from the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade settle.
The name Cavite comes from the Tagalog word for Kawit or "Kalawit" and it is mispronounced as Cauit adding the word "eh" and through time it changes into today's word called "Cavite".
Because of its proximity to Manila and its major role throughout the Galleon trade, a lot of Mexican and Chinese trader immigrants flourish in the city and spreading throughout Luzon.
During the WW2 the port became the seat of U.S. Naval forces in the Philippines and because of this during the bombings of the Japanese forces, a lot of numerous historical structures were demolished and left in ruins.
Today, the City is continuously flourishing and it is planned by the national government to erect the so called Sangley International Airport.
Language
The remnants of the Spanish Colonial Period is seen in the City for it has a distinct Spanish-based Creole in the City of Cavite.
The speakers of the language is called Chabacano.
It is also describe by the Spaniards as vulgar Spanish for the language uses Spanish vocabulary while making the grammar simple and the grammar of the language of the natives.
The Chabacano language spoken here in Cavite City is also a dialect of the Chavacano language spoken throughout the country scattered in Zamboanga Peninsula, Cotabato City, Davao, and the municipality of Ternate in Cavite.
Because of many factors the Chabacano language is now spoken by a few families here in Cavite City. Its decline is somehow associated because of lack of use and the non promotion of the language to Children by most elderly and also the migration of other people who spoke another language in Cavite City.

Today, the language is used in some churches in Cavite city, taught in some universities in Cavite City, and also promoted by the advocates of the Chabacano language in Cavite City.
Food
The most notable food here in Cavite City is prepared every Lenten season. It is called "Bacalao" which is a dish inherited from the Portuguese galleon traders. It is basically a salted codfish dish adapted by Caviteños during the Spanish Colonial times.

Ciudad de Cavite is town that prosper because of the galleon trade. Because of this the culture found in this municipality is heavily influenced by Spanish Catholicism.
As seen from the picture, it is the municipality's patron or locally known as "Nana Choleng" the Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Porta Vaga or Our lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga.
The town's notable fiestas are the Regada and the Feast of Our Lady of Solitude in Cavite City.
Amidst the predominant Catholic community, Iglesia Filipina Independiente also known as "Aglipayan Church" is also found in the the municipality, and as well as, other protestant denominations.
In conclusion, the culture of the City of Cavite is very much influenced by the religion of its people, the language, and also the diversity of each individuals found in the community.

The most notable person who was born in Cavite City is probably the one who composed the music of the Philippine national anthem, who is Julian Felipe.
He also composed some notable church songs that is still used today in churches found in Cavite City, such as Reina de Cavite which was written in honor for the Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga.

The most common question about the Corregidor island is about its jurisdiction. Corregidor island is often mistaken to be part of the Province of Bataan because of its proximity. In reality, the Corregidor Island falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Cavite. Making Cavite City owning the fortified islands in Manila Bay such as Corregidora and Caballo Island.
Today, the island is one of the most historical monument visited a lot by tourist each year because of its history. It features the Pacific War memorial, Malinta Tunnel, Corregidor light house, Japanese Garden of Peace, and Filipino Heroes Memorial.
MUNICIPALITY OF TERNATE History The municipality of Ternate was founded in 1663 when the Spanish Garrison of Ternate were forced to defend the the City of Manila from an incoming Chinese invasion to the city. A number of Merdicas volunteered to help and all throughout they resettled near the mouth of the Bahra de Maragondon also known as Maragondon River. Eventually the name of the Municipality of Ternate is after the name of an island found in Indonesia where the descendants of the Merdicas originates and integrated with the locals during the Spanish colonial period. Municipality of Alfonso History In the 17th century Alfonso was a vast land area covered with thick forest. Alfonso formerly part of barrio of lumampong in Indang. It consist four sitios including Matayawanak, Pajo, Pangasab, and Alas-as. The name Alas-as refers to the name of a tree that used for the construction of houses and bear sweet fruit.
