  MUNICIPALITY OF TERNATE History The municipality of Ternate was founded in 1663 when  the Spanish Garrison of Ternate were forced to defend the the City of Manila from an incoming Chinese invasion to the city. A number of Merdicas volunteered to help and all throughout they resettled near the mouth of the Bahra de Maragondon also known as Maragondon River.  Eventually the name of the Municipality of Ternate is after the name of an island found in Indonesia where the descendants of the Merdicas originates and integrated with the locals during the Spanish colonial period.  Language  When the Merdicas community settled in Ternate, they also brought their language along them. The Merdicas Community spoke a Spanish Creole with Portuguese and Papuan language community in their language which is a dialect of the Chavacano language in our country.   Municipality of Alfonso   History    In the 17th century Alfonso was a vast land area covered with thick forest. Alfonso formerly part of barrio of lumampong in Indang. It consist four sitios including Matayawanak, Pajo, Pangasab, and Alas-as.  The name Alas-as refers to the name of a tree that used for the construction of houses and bear sweet fruit.  Through the petition of community leaders (Bonifacio Aveo and Felix del Mundo) the town became a separate district municipality from Indang on March 16, 1859.  The name Alas-as was only long lasted in 17 years because the Spaniards officially named the town after The King Alfonso XII of Spain.   Municipality of Magallanes History Magallanes began it's history as a barrio called Panitan, then a part of the municipality of Maragondon. Panitan was derived from the Tagalog word “panit”, meaning “to remove the bark of a tree”. Long before the coming of the Spaniards, there grew along the mountainside of this barrio big trees called bitangcol which provide a source of income for the people. The barks of the trees are removed (panitan) and used as containers for storing palay or unhusked rice. The fibers of the barks were removed and twined into durable ropes. Because of this unusual occupation of the people the barrio came to be known as Panitan or Banitan. The first inhabitants of Panitan were Isidro Baltao, Glicerio Manalo, Florentino Mojica, and Ignacio Arat.   Tanza History Tanza was formerly known as Santa Cruz de Malabon. In 1770, it became a separate town and then became a municipality in 1910. Tanza is originally a part of San francisco de Malabon called "Estancia" the word Estancia was derived from the Spanish word which means "Station". The name Santa Cruz de Malabon was changed into Tanza by the virtue of Act No.2390 by Cavite Representative Florentino Joya (1912-1916). Tanza is the place wherein Emilio Aguinaldo took his oath as the First President of the Revolutionary Government of the Philippines. And Tanza is also the hometown of Felipe G. Calderon, he is the one who drafted the first Philippine Constitution. Food   The food in Tanza is heavily influenced by Spanish culture. NAIC   History  NAIC is an acronym for Nuestra Adorada (or Amable or Amante) Inmaculada Concepción, Spanish for Our Adorable (or Amiable or Loving) Immaculate Conception, which refers to the Patroness of the barrio at the time. Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, whose feast the barrio celebrated (and the town continues to celebrate) on December 8. When it comes to the origins of the name, NAIC has a few different tales to tell. One theory it is originated when the Spaniard asked a resident what the pig was doing. One resident replied, “na-igik” (crying sound of pigs), which later became NAIC. A second theory derived from the Spanish term “Ca- Naic.” meaning “neighboring place.” by referring to the now Maragondon as its mother town. Third theory, it is derived in the acronym Nuestra Adorada Immaculada Concepcion.
