HISTORY 

                

Noveleta, a former barrio of Cavite el Viejo (Kawit), became an independent municipality on January 5,1868 presumably during the Spanish Governor General Jose de la Gandara y Navarro (1866- 1869). Another source says Noveleta was founded one year earlier, in 1867. The name Noveleta is said to have originated from Nueva Isla or New Island, a tern frequently used by the spaniards, referring to the locality. In the early years of the Spanish regime visiting priests described the place as Nueva Late (New fate or Fortune). In the course of time these terms Nueva Isla and Nueva Lete involved of Noveleta.

CULTURE


Everyone was filled with vibrance and joy as residents of Noveleta celebrated the 112th Feast of the Holy Cross and the 62nd year of Nuestra Senora Dela Paz Y Buen Viaje-Reina de Noveleta from May 2 to 4, 2017. Over 5,000 residents of Noveleta gathered in the town plaza to show support and take part of the activities during the celebration.

NOTABLE PEOPLE

General Mariano Alvarez, man of great courage and brilliance, which ignited and led the uprising against the Spaniards in Cavite was born on March 15, 1818 at Noveleta, Cavite.



                    Santiago alvarez
He became captain general and later, commander-in-chief, of the Magdiwang forces and valiantly fought the Spaniards from 1896 to 1897. With his father, Mariano Álvarez, and cousin, General Pascual Álvarez, they liberated Noveleta from the Spaniards on August 31, 1896.


                    BPascual Alvarez

Pascual Álvarez (1861-1923) was a general during the Philippine Revolution and member of the Magdiwang revolutionary organization. He was captured by the Americans in 1900.

TOURIST SPOT

The Noveleta Tribunal, the first municipal hall of the town, was where, on August 31, 1896, Noveleta-born Gen. Pascual Alvarez, under orders from his uncle Gen. Mariano Alvarez of the Sangguniang Magdiwang, killed the Guardia Civil Capt. Antonio Rebolledo within the hall of this building.

Long beach
There were palm trees, colorful banners, cottages and food stalls within the resort. The place is filled with “Rasta colors” which gives the resort some sort of Jamaican vibes on it. Long Beach is a public resort and the best part about it, everyone can access it for free.
